This Online Safety, AI & Digital Safeguarding Update for leaders provides a focused three-hour professional development session exploring current and emerging online safety responsibilities. The session combines legislative updates, practical safeguarding scenarios, interactive polls, group discussion, and case-based learning to support DSLs in strengthening their school’s digital safeguarding approach.
The aim of this course is to strengthen school leaders/ staff understanding of current and emerging online safety responsibilities, including legislative developments, AI-related safeguarding risks, digital harms, and effective school responses.
Delegates will explore how changes in statutory guidance, technology, and online behaviours impact safeguarding practice and will develop practical strategies to strengthen policies, procedures, staff awareness, and incident response.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
Understand key updates and expectations relating to online safety within Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026.
Understand the implications of the Online Safety Act 2023 for schools and safeguarding practice.
Explore how the Crime & Policing Act 2026 impacts online safety, AI-generated harms, and image-based abuse.
Understand the opportunities and risks associated with AI in educational settings, including relevant policies, procedures, and governance.
Review responsibilities relating to filtering and monitoring, including emerging expectations around AI-enabled technologies.
Understand safeguarding responses to suspected making, sending and receiving explicit images, including those generated using AI
Strengthen confidence in responding to digital safeguarding incidents.
Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), Deputy DSLs, Safeguarding Leads within Multi-Academy Trusts, Safeguarding Governors, Online Safety Leads, Pastoral Leaders and IT Lead/ Teachers.
What level training is this course?
Since the implementation of Safeguarding Partnerships, most sectors have moved away from using the term ‘levels’. The expectation is that you will undertake training which is relevant to the role you take in the organisation.
If in doubt, reach out and we will be able to clarify what this equivalent level of training is.
Will I receive a certificate?
You will receive a PDF certificate for attending our training sessions. Professional Curiosity Training with ECP is CPD certified. You need to ensure you are available and engaged for the full duration of the training session in order to receive your certificate.
How far in advance can I book the training?
You can book your training as soon as dates are released that you can attend.
How many people can I book onto this training?
You can book as many delegates access to this course as you need, however if you have more than 5 delegates who need this training, we recommend you book this course for your organisation as this will work out more cost effective than paying per person.

How do I book this training?

Once completed, you will receive confirmation that your form has been submitted, then you will receive an email confirmation of your booking. Bookings are not confirmed until you have received this email.
